FRANKLIN, MA—Pure Energy Solutions Inc. announces largest Bioheat® contract to date, with Dean College. Pure Energy Solutions Inc. will begin supplying Dean’s six campus buildings, which use oil for heating fuel, this October.
When asked what prompted the switch from regular oil to a cleaner burning oil, known as Bioheat®, Brian Kelly, Facilities Director at Dean College stated, “It just made good sense, both from an environmental and health perspective. Dean College is committed to doing its part when it comes to the health and safety of our students, faculty members and staff. Switching to Bioheat® was the logical next step in our ongoing greening of the Dean Campus process. Last year we switched all of our cleaning products over to environment-friendly brands.”

Bioheat® is a blend of conventional heating oil and pure soy oil. It is extremely clean burning, with the standardized blends (B2, B5, and B20) proven to reduce sulfur oxide emissions by as much as 80%, with a reduction in nitrogen oxide and carbon dioxide emissions by as much as 20%.

“These statistics alone would have been enough for us to consider switching,” said Kelly. “ We also factored in the cost and the effect Bioheat® fuel would have on our present oil burners. Once we learned from Pure Energy Solutions, that the cost was no more than conventional oil, there were no modifications needed, it can be blended with our current inventory and it actually extends the life of the burner pumps, it just made sense to contract with them as our heating oil supplier.”

According to Michael Cataldo, President of Pure Energy Solutions, “The other nice thing about Bioheat® is that it produces the same satisfying degree of heat as regular heating oil. Nothing changes except the improved health of the building and everyone in it.” Pure Energy Solutions, Inc. provides a B5 standard of Bioheat® for home heating use.

According to the National Oilheat Research Alliance (NORA), “If everyone using heating oil used a B5 blend (5% biodiesel / 95% regular heating oil), 400 million gallons of regular heating oil could be conserved.” This would provide a substantial reduction in America’s dependence on foreign oil. Bioheat® is domestically produced and profits the American economy, especially farmers who can easily grow soy and other vegetable oil crops for use in alternative heating. All those green fields have the added bonus of purifying our air even more, while producing much needed oxygen and further reducing the green house gas effect of concern to so many today.

When asked how Dean College and Pure Energy Solutions were able to connect with each other, Michael Cataldo was quick to credit the United Chamber of Commerce, headquartered in Franklin, MA. “The United Chamber of Commerce is dedicated to providing our members with the resources they need to build successful, meaningful business relationships throughout our region,” said Thomas J. Fleming III, President and CEO of the United Chamber of Commerce.

Officials at the U.S. Department of Agriculture estimate that if everyone in the Northeast with an oil furnace used a B5 blend (5% biodiesel/95% heating oil), 400 million gallons of regular heating oil could be conserved. - www.oilheatamerica.com
